EPSO Reveals Changes To Its Case Study Test Platform

EU Training

EU Training is the 1st to bring you news of EPSO's latest update of its Case Study platform.

The test methodology of the Case Study exam has NOT changed, only the testing platform's layout and functionality - that is, how the various elements of the exercise now appear on your screen.

We'll help you familiarise yourself with this change so you can be fully prepared on exam day.

How is the new test platform different?

The new Case Study exercise will now appear as a split screen.

The left-hand-side of the screen will show all the information required to complete the exercise.

The right-hand side of the screen will feature the exercise tasks and the text box where you will need to write your answer.

EPSO has released a short tutorial on the new platform that you can find at the end of this article.

Key things to note

The text area where you will need to write your report is limited to a maximum of 32 thousand characters.

Your work will be automatically saved every 30 seconds, as well as when the time elapses at the end of the test. There is no manual save option, instead, each auto-save will permanently overwrite the previous version of your typed text.

The software does not allow you to create tables, graphs or drawings, but there are basic formatting functions available in the toolbar such as, change Text Size, Bold, Italics, Underline, Text Alignment, Undo, Redo and Insert Indent.

You can use the right-click function of the mouse to Cut/Copy/Paste/Select All/Delete.

Keyboard shortcuts are limited to:

  • Ctrl+A (select all)
  • Ctrl+X (cut)
  • Ctrl+C (copy)
  • Ctrl+V (paste)
  • Ctrl+Home (navigate to the beginning of the document)
  • Ctrl+End (navigate to the end of the document)

Since the exam is not delivered on an MS Office platform, it is best not to use any other MS Office shortcuts or the F5 key, as these could lead to the accidental deletion of written work.

Overview of the left side "Document Viewer":
There are a number of ways to access the documents you'll require to complete the tasks set in this exam.

  • The first item that you will see appear in the Document Viewer is the Table of Contents. Click on the different headings in the Table of Contents to access a specific document directly.
  • The documents can also be accessed via the links in the footer of every page.
  • You can scroll down to see all the documents one after another.
  • By using the arrows in the navigation bar, you can also navigate from one document to the next. There are a number of other functions in the Document Viewer which the tutorial explains in greater detail.

Clicking on the "Finish" button at any time during the exercise will end the exam session and what you have written up until that point will be considered completed and submitted.

EU Training's Case Study simulations align with the content that you'll be presented with at your actual EPSO Case Study exam. We're updating our platform to match the new Case Study layout and functionality implemented by EPSO.
