As far as we know, this is the biggest internal competition released by the European Commission since 2019, post-Covid and a great opportunity to move up in the ranks and advance your EU career. There are 7 grades - technically 8 if we count the AST4 competition with 60 positions, but the Oral Test phase just finished, so a Reserve List will be released for them in the near future. If we added the AST4 comp positions available that would bring the total number up to a whopping 451, which is admittedly quite impressive.
8 Grades Available
Currently, these are the 8 grades released for the Internal Competition, that we are aware of.
- AST4 - 60 positions (Oral Test phase has finished as far as we know)
- AD5 - 75 positions (applications closed)
Applications for the following grades are due on 22 DECEMBER 2022 (links to Notice of Competitions included):
- AST2 - 30 positions
- AST-SC2 - 30 positions
- AD6 - 100 positions
- AD7 - 58 positions
- AD9 - 38 positions
- AD12 - 60 positions
The selection process and criteria varies a bit for each grade which is detailed in each specific Notice of Competition. Please make sure to check the official NoC for details on Qualifications and Work Experience.
General Criteria
There are some general criteria all the grades have in common
- Since it is an internal competition, you have presumably met the general requirements to already be working in an EU Institution, and mainly you must have valid EU citizenship.
- Language requirements are as follows:
- Language 1* - thorough knowledge of any one of the 24 official EU languages (minimum C1 level)
- Language 2* - satisfactory knowledge of another language (minimum B2 level)
- MUST BE ENGLISH, FRENCH or GERMAN
- This will be the language that you use for the full competition (application, all the tests and communication)
- Language 1 and Language 2 MUST BE DIFFERENT
- If there is more than one field, you may only apply to one.
*This is not how the languages are referred to in the Notice of Competitions, we just used these terms to simplify the description
