Hello everyone,

The Notice of Competition for AD Permanent Official type of positions is pretty clear on the selection process, until the establishment of the reserve list. However, I am unclear on the next steps if/when placed on the reserve list.

Could you please clarify? Is it as simple as "wait for a job offer", or being placed on such a reserve list just triggers another process with perhaps interview(s), etc.?

Thanks for the help!

F.

But if the procedure is for a specific AD specialist job, then you are contacted proactively, right? Or are we expected to apply again?

No. The Institutions don't organize a competition for one single job. You might get contacted, but it is safer to assume that you will need to apply to specific job vacancies...

No, you have to apply to every job posting that comes up in the list in your EPSO account, even if it is not direclty related to the competition that you succeded.

This increases the  chances that you get hired.

It is possible that the job you are after does not come up soon, it might take a few years, depending on the  DG.

So it is best to keep applying to any job that looks attractive and your CV and experience is related e.g. if you are a lawyer, you can apply to any jaywer job, in any DG.

Thank you all for the inputs.

Thank you all for the inputs.

My follow-up question would be: after we're informed we will be placed on a reserve list, we can ask EPSO not to release our names in the public list. Are there any disadvantages in doing so? Does it decrease the visibility of our profiles in any way for recruiting DGs?

Similarily, are there arguments/aspects that would make you strongly recommend having our names reeased on the public list?

Hi, your potential employers

Hi, your potential employers in the EU institutions will never use the published list in the Official Journal: they use the tools made available by EPSO, in which the name and professional profile of every candidate in the list is available. This means that having your name published (or not) in the list has no impact on your chances to be invited to an interview. Some people decide not to publish their name for many reasons: privacy (some people don't want their full names online); problematic employers (some people fear consequences of letting their employers know they want to change jobs), etc. To increase your chances to be recruited once in a list, you have to keep your profile in EPSO up to date and actively apply to any job you see that might interest you, that's all.
