What's Coming Up in December 2022 - EPSO Rundown

EU Training

There's still a few more weeks to go before things start winding down at EPSO and we all get a well-earned rest over the holidays. AST3 candidates are in the midst of their pre-selection tests and there is one more round of CBT mid-december for CAST. The last EPSO competition of the year was released and there are still many competitions either waiting for eligibility checks or wrapping up the Assessment Centre in December. We'll take a look at everything that's happening in EPSO in its current state below.

Upcoming EPSO Competitions

EPSO published this message on their website: "Please note that our last competition this year was published on 17 November. In view of the new competition model being developed by EPSO, the 2023 competition cycle will only be launched in May 2023. We will keep you informed of all the details via our website and social media channels. During that period you can continue to consult a selection of EU job opportunities on our website."

While we wait EPSO is still working on completeing their new selection policy and system. There are many rumors on Facebook and other forums about the new EPSO system. One big change that is very likely to take place is that from here on out all EPSO exams will take place remotely ONLY. There will be no more possibility for in-person testing. AST3 candidates are experiencing this new policy as we write this, because they only had the choice to take their CBTs remotely. Whereas CAST candidates still have the choice for in-person testing at this moment.

Read Jan De Sutter's article about the new EPSO System to find out more about the what we know so far about this overhaul of the selection process.

ASSISTANTS (EPSO/AST/154/22)

This ongoing AST3 comp is one of the biggest EPSO released this year. There are six profiles and 492 places on the Reserve List (all profiles combined). These candidates are currently in the very midst of the pre-selection phase, which means computer-based tests covering verbal, numerical and abstract reasoning skills. These candidates are experiencing EPSO's new remote-proctoring-only policy firsthand at the moment.

For this competition the CBT pass mark is not enough and only candidates with the highest scores will have their applications screened for eligibility. The Assessment Centre will include a Field-Related Interview (FRI), a Situational Competency-Based Interview (SCBI) and a Case Study (CS).
