Verbal Reasoning

Verbal Reasoning is one of three multiple-choice tests that are part of EPSO's Computer-Based Test in the Pre-Selection phase, or in the case of Specialist exams it may be part of the Assessment Centre. Always consult the Notice of Competition to find out which exams will be required and in what phase of the competition.

There is a text, usually one, max two paragraphs, or appx 250 words. There are usually 4 to 5 answer options to choose from and candidates have to try to choose the one that fully matches the statements in the original text. There is always only one correct answer because other options may contain insufficient information or false statements.

The computer-based tests, and so the verbal reasoning test, is always taken in the candidate's chosen Language 1.
