Why is EPSO so slow?

Hello everyone,

This is probably on everyone's mind, but I think it is ridiculous that it takes so long for EPSO to arrange the selection procedures, Covid or not.

For example, the bulk of the EU Law AD tests finished in December, with another few tests in the first half of March. No news whatsoever yet.

The lawyer-linguists applications closed on 23 February and almost 2 months later we don't even have a date for the 1st phase of tests.

Does anyone know why all this is happening and if there will be any new developments in the near future?!

I agree with you that the

I agree with you that the waiting time is very long and frankly, exhausting... I should let you know that you might have to be very patient and even arrange other plans for the near future since you might have to wait much more time. I do not know the particular details of your competition, but to give you an example, I participated in last year's lawyer - linguists competition (which closed on 5 May 2020) and received the results of the Talent Screener on 31 March 2021! And of course no news on the preliminary test almost a year later! So have patience and in the meantime prepare for your competition tests... Good luck!

Well already that epso was never fast to begin with, but sure it is much slower during covid. Concerning the EU law competition however, they haven't run tests in all countries yet (i know for my country - Lithuania) we are still waiting for the tests, they have invited several times, but then cancelled... And knowing that normally they announce all the results together for all the candidates, i think the waiting is far from over... Let's stay healthy and patient:)

Hi!

I emailed EPSO regarding the AD5 EU law - they wrote that:

"There is still a residual number of candidates that could not be tested. Hence, the delay in publishing the results of the computer-based tests, which will be included in the candidates' EPSO accounts once the testing of all candidates is completed.

I can already inform you that we do not expect the results to be published before July at the earliest."

Specifically for that competition also, the indicative planning shows that they are maybe going to have the intermediate tests in September.

EPSO isn't the fastest in normal circumstances, but with COVID it's going to take a lot of extra time, as they must ensure equal opportunities to all candidates to the best of their abilities.
