A new competition was released, and another one is set to be released, so many are in progress, and SCBI assignments are being released left and right. On the other hand... a lot of candidates are still waiting for results or any news from EPSO. ASSISTANTS IN THE FIELDS OF OPERATIONAL / TECHNICAL SECURITY AND OPERATIONAL HEALTH & SAFETY

Another great opportunity for assistants - EPSO will be releasing another AST3 competition in mid-November.

The day after applications open, EU Training will hold an interactive information webcast presented by Andras Baneth, #1 expert on EU Careers. You will be able to ask questions directly from him during the live session. The aim is to to help you understand the selection process of this particular EPSO competition and the best ways to prepare effectively for each phase,

ENERGY, CLIMATE & ENVIRONMENT AD6 (EPSO/AD/401/22)

EPSO launched a new AD6 competition on 20 October covering three profiles: Energy, Climate and Environment. After the application period closes, your eligibility will be checked first, followed by the talent screener review. Once you have been deemed eligible you will move on to the Assessment Centre phase, which will include the following exams: Computer-Based Test (CBT) which is eliminatory, Case Study (CS), Situational Competency-Based Interview (SCBI) and Field-Related Interview (FRI).

ASSISTANTS (EPSO/AST/154/22)

EPSO released a huge AST3 competition in September covering six profiles and a whopping total of 492 places on the Reserve List (all profiles combined).

Following this there will be the classic EPSO pre-selection phase - the CBT - testing your reasoning skills. This means the pass mark is not enough and only candidates with the highest scores will have their applications screened for eligibility. The Assessment Centre will include a Field-Related Interview (FRI), a Situational Competency-Based Interview (SCBI) and a Case Study (CS).

ADMINISTRATORS IN THE FIELD OF AUDIT (EPSO/AD/399/22 - AD7)

Eligibility checks were completed in September, currently the Talent Screeners are being evaluated - everybody's on pins and needles waiting for the results! What we know from the Notice of Competition is that the AC phase will include the Computer-Based Test (CBT), a Field-Related Interview (FRI), a Competency-Based Interview (CBI) and a Situational Competency-Based Interview (SCBI).

LINGUISTIC ASSISTANTS (EPSO/AST/152/22)

This competition covers the following language profiles:

  • Estonian (ET)
  • Croatian (HR)
  • Italian (IT)
  • Dutch (NL)
  • Polish (PL)
  • Portuguese (PT)

Candidates have already had their Computer-Based Tests, now eligibility is being checked. Once candidates are deemed to be eligible they will move into the next phase - the Assessment Centre. We know that the AC will include a Case Study (CS) and a Competency-Based Interview (CBI). Dates are not published yet (as of 25 October 2022, date this article was published).

ADMINISTRATORS IN EXTERNAL RELATIONS (EPSO/AD/382/20 - AD5 / AD7)

The Assessment Centre phase commenced in September. The AC for this competition includes the following exams: Competency-Based Interview (CBI), Field-Related Interview (FRI), Case Study (CS) and a Written Test in the Field (WT). Testing for the Case Study and Written Test (both in test centres and remotely proctored) took place on 4 October 2022.

HEADS OF ADMINISTRATION IN EU DELEGATIONS (EPSO/AST/153/22 - AST4)

As we write this article, these candidates are in the middle of their pre-selection CBT tests, which will end on 28 October. Candidates just need to reach the pass mark, and those that do will have their Talent Screeners checked for eligibility. After eligibility checks comes the Assessment Centre. The Notice of Competition listed the following tests for the AC: Situational Competency-Based Interview (SCBI), a Field-Related Interview (FRI) and a Case Study (CS).

LAWYER LINGUISTS (AD7)

  • Irish-Language (GA) Lawyer-Linguists - EPSO/AD/396/21 

Having completed their translation tests and Computer-Based Reasoning Skills Tests, candidates have to sit for their Assessment Centre tests - Competency-Based Interview (CBI), Field-Related Interview (FRI) and Situational Competency-Based Interview (SCBI) will take place in November-December.

PROOFREADERS & LANGUAGE EDITORS / EPSO/AST/148/21

  • Estonian

Having done and dusted the Computer-Based Reasoning Skills Tests, next up for these candidates are the Proofreading and correcting tests, followed by the Assessment Centre. The AC will include both a CBI and an SCBI.

  • Proofreading and correcting skills will be tested from 31 October 2022 until 4 November 2022
  • The Assessment Centre exam period varies for each profile, so make sure to check your specific competition's EPSO page for official dates.

TECHNICIANS (AST)

  • Audiovisual and conference technicians - EPSO/AST/150/21 - 1
  • Building technicians - EPSO/AST/150/21 - 2
  • Laboratory technicians - EPSO/AST/150/21 - 3

The Assessment Centre exam period for Audiovisual conference technicians & Building technicians began in September and lasts until about mid December 2022. The SCBI Assignment was released on 24 October.

Laboratory technicians will begin their AC phase soon, according to the EPSO website in mid-October.

All three profiles have the Field-Related Interview (FRI), Situational Competency-Based Interview (SCBI) and Case Study. EU Training will be offering SCBI workshops once EPSO releases their SCBI assignment.

Online training sessions are available for this competition and we've already received some nice feedback from a participant who took part in 14 OCTOBER 2022 FRI Simulation for Building & Laboratory Technicians with Jan De Sutter: "Good balance between introduction and a lot of space for doing the simulation which was very good. Very clear and direct in the explanations he provided. I liked that he went directly to the point. I liked that he always made us think in terms of what the inteviewer would understand from what we presented."
