Hi everyone,

I know we should use as little as possible the calcutor provided during competitions on the computer, for numerical. But a small detail disturbs me: are the conditions of EPSO competitions similar to eutraining tests ?

I explain. The calculator of the tests used in eutraining is a pop up. But a fixed pop up, in the middle of the screen, what means, when you use it, you cannot move it on a side of the screen. The consequences are significant. You cannot read the figures and use the calculator on the same time. You have to note down the figures first, then open the calcutor. It's a big big waste of time.

Does anyone who already had the EPSO tests recently can confirm me please ? Thank you.

Hi, they give you one

Hi, they give you one calculator and you have also the chance to use the calculator in the screen (that I don't recall bothering me, so either is in one side of the screen or you can move it to your convenience). Also note that some options are deactived so you can really think as the most basic calculator you may have for basic operations.

Hi,

Is the memory function available in the physical calculator that you get during the test? Can I take my own simple calculator?

Hi, I'm not sure about the memory function but you can't take any materials in or out with you. They'll provide you with a calculator, pen or market and a pice of paper or whiteboard for your exam. When you finish you must leave all the materials at your desk

Hello, just for confirming.

Hello, just for confirming. Does any one more then notices thatt:.

1) At the calculator available at EU TRAINING memory function is not activated- Its create a lot of problems not just for the position, but because the colour of the numbers number is so clear that it has enoght constrast so many mistakes are provoked

if due to covid situation, computer test could be done remotedly? Has anyone already experienced  MCQ this way? In this situation the only calculator availble would be on the screen or should every body maintain the camera on?

Hola Alicia,

I don't recall, having a physical calculator in my exam in 2015, but neither I recall problems with it. Does anyone know the type of calculator? has the brackets function?

Thanks

Hi there,

it might be different in each country/test center. I took the exam in Madrid in November 2020 and in October 2019 for two different competitions and I was provided with a physical calculator for both which worked perfectly. I can't remember what type of calculator we used though, sorry! Hopefully someone else can answer

I was notified today by EPSO

I was notified today by EPSO that physical calculators are forbidden. Good luck to all of us relying on the annoying on-screen calculator...
