Thanks for the confirmation, this is really a positive surprise! ;-)

As for the pension plan transfer, do you have the slightest idea? Or at least any clue where to find the info?

Thx

_Online EU TrainingDear FD76,

Our tool's calculation seems to be correct in your case. The approx. 500 EUR difference comes from the deductions' side: particularly the taxes and the solidarity tax.

In your case the taxable amount (according to the calculator) is around EUR 2 700, so the tax and the solidarity tax should be calculated from this base not from the EUR 4524. This could be a reason for the difference.

I hope this answer helps, however please note that we are not tax professionals and the calculation only serves information purposes.

If you have any other questions, let us know!

Thanks for the great calculation tool. Is it possible to have more detail on the taxable portion of the salary? I'm having trouble finding out even roughly how much I can expect to be taxed. I have one child and a dependent spouse and my gross basic salary is 4568. Can you give me an idea of how much tax I'll pay?

If you put all your information to the online calculator tool provided, then the number you see as a result is your net salary. The tax portion has already been taken into account and deducted.

Yes I realised that. It's a great tool, I'd just like to get even closer to the real figure and to do that I need to find the tax scale used so I can calculate that figure myself. Then I'll compare with the online tool.
Bit fussy I know!

Dear Eutraining,
Thanks for the EU salary calculator.Considering the above, if one is on AD5 grade and does not have neither family nor children. Then the net salary for somebody living 5 years in Belgium is:

Basic pay: 4350
Indexed pay (*1,04): 4524
social security (0,1391*0,9*base): -566,3
taxes -500
solidarity (*0,06) -207,4

Final Net 3,250.3
What if I speak three languages apart from my mother language, am I eligible for a language allowance?
If yes, how much that would be?

JaGyGy Thu, 03/26/2015 - 08:29

It will be more than that. I just tried with the latest version of the Commission calculator with the info you gave and this is the result. AD5 official, no household allowance, no children, 4 % expatriation allowance (instead of 16 %).

Basic pay 4384,38
Expatriation allowance 175,38

Pension contribution -442,82
Sickness insurance - 74,53
Accident insurance - 4,38
Tax - 321,25
Special levy -51.96

Net pay total 3664,82.

There are no allowances for knowledge of languages. IF you actually will need to use these languages in your daily work, it will be a plus point when it comes to promotion. If not, it will have no effect.

Hi,
Regarding the calculator. It appears it significantly overestimates my net salary. THis is mainly because, being a Belgian with 3 kids living more than 50 km from Brussels, I would not receive +/- anything of the educational allowance, as my actual costs are +/- 0 for the school itself.
The tool seems to give the appearance that the full educational allowance is automatically paid as net salary, but my understanding is that only actual costs (up to a certain cap) will be paid as an allowance. In my view, it would be usefull to split the educational allowance from the other components of net salary.

Hi, I have not seen further comments on my earlier post. I just want to validate whether the remark I made is valid.
- Based on my data (AD7, step 2, 3 children, attending school, with children at +50km attending school from work): the net salary is 9019 EUR/month.
- When selecting they are not attending school and not attending school at +50 km from work, the net salary is 6311 EUR/month. As this is a 40-50% difference in actual net salary ( I will not be receiving educational allowances as I pay +/- 0 school fees), I would like to understand why this is not split. Perhaps my interpretation of educational allowances is incorrect and I would be potentially eligible for some of these allowances. Appreciate the clarifications!
Thanks!

Hello I am wondering that what Is the total income when you are in ast/sc1 grade and you get expat allowance and family allowance (wife with lower than ast3 salary) You work in armed security/protection. Did you get some other allowance and what Is paid when you worked in evening/night/weekend?
