Recruitment Interview (Not Assessment Centre Interview)

Hello

Does anybody know how long one has to wait to be contacted by the competent HR department if they are, indeed, interested in your profile? I mean, the deadline for application for a position I am interested in expired a week ago and I was wondering how long it takes them to decide to invite so and so for an interview...

Looking forward to your replies..

They were not able to start

They were not able to start considering your application before the application deadline, so a week after that is not a long time. It won't be the HR selecting people, they just act as a contact point and check eligibility, etc. Once that has been done (after the deadline), they send the applications to the relevant unit.

If you will not be invited, you will receive a message nevertheless. No answer doesn't mean no interview, it means that the decision hasn't been taken yet.

Dear Rudeneja,

Thank you so much for replying, I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for somebody to explain the whole process to me!  :-D

So, one week is not long enough - I thought so, too. What is the average amount of time that one is supposed to wait after the deadline has expired? 2 weeks? A month? In the past, I always got the rejection letter 2 or 3 months later. This time, I am hoping to get to the interview, so I'm a bit impatient...

With regard to HR, are they free to reject some people and select only a bunch of them to present to the Heads of Unit? Or do they submit all the applications they have received and then it's up to the Head of Unit to see who they like best?
