Expatriation allowance question

carlos.miguelan... Wed, 11/08/2017 - 20:32

Hi,

A very simple question, If I get a position in a country where I am not eligible to have the "Expatriation allowance". And after few years I decide to move to a different country to a different DG, will I be able to request the expatriation allowance if I meet the requirements in this new location?

Thanks in advance

Dear Carlos,

As far as we know, it is the moment of the recruitment that matters. Should you get a position in another country later, that would not be considered as recruitment any longer, but as an internal transfer, therefore you won't be eligible for expatriation allowance.

However I advise that you double-check this issue with EPSO directly.

Best, David

david this is not correct, according to the staff regulations you are entitled to expat allowance if you have not lived in a country for last 5 years. and for the home country it is last 10 years.

Thanks for the additional

Hi,

We would really like to help, but we don't have the specifics to answer the question. We strongly suggest you contact EPSO directly.
