2024 UPDATE: The Written Test has replaced the Case Study, our new WT products reflect this change from EPSO.
The current EPSO written test process is the following:
- The written test documents are released appx 2 weeks before the scheduled exam date.
- Candidates have that time to analyse, memorise and prioritise the documents and to practice writing a response.
- The actual assignment is revealed on exam day
- Candidates get 40 minutes to write a response.
SAME-SAME, BUT DIFFERENT
There are now THREE different written simulation products available on EU Training. The similarities are:
- all of these simulations can be started through your dashboard on the right-hand side, in the START NEW TEST block.
- you can do all of these in 'practice' or 'exam' mode
- you can retake these test simulations as many times as you like
- all of these are available in packages that include one or two evaluations
Let's take a look at the differences:
- EPSO-style Written Test simulation
These written test simulations are based on the current EPSO WT model, but use general EU subjects not related to any competition specifically.
- "Competition name" | EPSO-stlye written test
This is based on the 1st type of EPSO written test as described on the EU careers website which is related to the fields of the competition but does not assess knowledge in that field. Currently there are two available of this type:
- Nuclear Energy written test simulations
- Transport written test simulations
- WT simulations for Economists
DOCUMENTS: For both types above, the writtent test and related documents will appear in your Dashboard on the left side in the MY WRITTEN TESTS block.
EVALUATION: if you choose a package with an Evaluation (or purchase it later separately) you'll be assessed on only one competency, just like EPSO does now: Written Communication Skills. Evaluations are only available in English.
These written tests are for internal competitions, or other types of EU exams. Our in-house expert created these mock written tests based on her high-level experience working at the Commission.
- There are three written tests available currently, in English only. written test available at this time. According to the Notice of Competition:
- documents and tasks are provided at the start of the exam
- candidates have 120 minutes to analyse the documents and write their response
EVALUATION: if you choose a package with an Evaluation (or purchase it later separately) you'll be assessed on these four competencies:
- Analysis and problem-solving
- Delivering quality and results
- Prioritising and organising
- Communication
The way you'll be assessed on the actual exam is a little bit different, and not explicitly put in these terms, but very closely related.
Evaluations are only available in English.
