Hello everyone
I am thinking on presenting to the AD exams. I am near to be 50 y.o, and wonder if that would be an issue if I pass to the personal interview, or if age it is important to interviewers/UE officials. I have a long work experience, in an ever-changing environment, which may be a good value for the job, but I do not know if age could be perceived negatively. Any thoughts?
Thank you
I don't think that age
I don't think that age matters, at least not officially. And I know people who passed this competition in their late 40s, yearly 50s, obviously age was not a problem for them. Once you pass it, it may even be easier to find a job. Good luck
Thank you Krisi. I guess age
Thank you Krisi. I guess age is not a problem, at least officially, otherwise would be illegal. The fact that you know people who succeded and got a job in the UE, it is good news. Thank you for your feedback

I just got hired at age 44, after 5 years of attempts. When I started applying I asked myself the same question, and although beside the preparation you need luck as well, never give up if you really want it. So go for it and good luck!
Hi Karina. Thanks for
Hi Karina. Thanks for cheering me up!

Hi Karina, durng your five attempts, how many times did you pass the CBT?
Thanks for the reply.
Hi, I tried for 5 years -
Hi, I tried for 5 years - sent like 15 applications per year, and passed only 2 CBT tests - one AD5, and one CAST Secretary, so now I am a Secretary - Contract agent.
For those 5 years I was invited to 3 interviews and the last one was successful. I want to become a permanent official, so I will go to CBT's again, and the studying continues.
It's different for everybody, it takes a lot of persistence and luck.
Good luck!
Thank you for sharing and
Thank you for sharing and good luck to you too.
Dear Karina, the fact that
Dear Karina, the fact that you have never given up sounds so impressive!
I have just started my EPSO journey and wonder what would be your advice on how to start the best... Any tips would be welcome.
Thank you, it is not that
Thank you, it is not that impressive really, I had my doubts every step of the way.
It is individual for everyone, and I cannot give you an universal advice.
What I know for certain is that it takes a lot of studying, practice, following the updates of this site /tests, news, webinars/ and last but not least luck.
I applied for every possible position for which I can cover the requirements in order to get expereince on writing applications, attending tests and interviews.
Now as a Contract agent, I will be going to EPSO tests again and try to become a permanent official. So, my EPSO journey continues.
I wish you good luck!
