Hi,
I'm wondering if anyone knows of any published documents detailing EU officials' competency framweowrk.
Through practicing E-tray and SJTs I identified I am pretty good on some competencies (particularly 'working with others') but need a lot of improving when it comes to "Delivering Quality and Results". Usually, large organisations have very detailed descriptors of these competencies but I can only find short paragraphs of a couple of sentences per competency online. I'm a bit conscious about using other organisations' descriptors as some advice may be conflicting with the expectations of an EU official (e.g. in some roles, being able to 'not follow a procedure' when required is considered an asset).
The Ultimate AD assessment centre book has been great but I'm hoping to be able to do a bit more work on this before the Etray excercise.
Any ideas?
Mark
Hi Mark,
Hi Mark,
Indeed this is a very good question. I also find really difficult sometimes to guess what's the type of behaviour that is expected in each question. I did not find anything in the internet either, and I am afraid that, concerning to EU institutions, there is not anything published.
Please don't regard me as indiscreet or busybody, but I am wondering if you would'nt mind tell publicly what's your average score in these type of exercises...?? I am around 32/40 in SJT (máx. 34.5/40) and 75% in E-Tray (max. 83%), but I am concerned that those marks would not probably enough to go further in the next competition (that will be my first one). It would be interesting to get a reference point.
Thanks and good luck.
Pablo.
Hi Pablo,
Hi Pablo,
I don't mind sharing my scores no :). So far I only sat the 30 SJT questions and 16 scenarios in in the AD5 (assessment centre edition) book and got the following scores:
63% (19 out 30) in the SJT, and 60% (116 out of possible 192*) in the Etray.
Will definitely need to improve my scores across the board but if I can improve the weakest competencies first to an acceptable level it should bump up my scores to the high 70s so that would be a good start.
This weekend I'll email EPSO to ask whether they have any more detail regarding competencies to share - they usuallyt reply within a week to two weeks so I will come back here and let you know what they say.
Good luck with your prep!
*16 scenarios with 3 questions each with a maximum possible score of 4 per question.
Hi, Mark.Thanks so much for
Hi, Mark. Thanks so much for sharing it openly.
Good luck for you also!!
Pablo.
Hey,
Hey,
Ages ago I said I'll contact EPSO to find out if they have more info about how the general competencies are evaluated.
Sadly, there was no additional information available about this. I found the information/advice about these competencies in the EU Test Book (AC edition) is the most comprehensive/reputable source out there.
Best wishes,
Mark
