Breaking news: EPSO Reopens (some) Applications from March 2024

EU Training

EPSO announced that it will reopen applications for two competitions: Transport and Nuclear Energy, both are AD7.

After many months of waiting, EPSO has finally announced that they will reopen applications for two competitions (and hopefully more, soon):

  • Transport competition applications will reopen on 1 March 2024.
  • Nuclear energy competition applications will reopen on 22 March 2024.

This is great news for anyone who missed the deadline last time.

And even better news for all the candidates waiting to hear any news about testing. This announcement brings fresh hope that EPSO may restart tests soon, maybe even in March, prioritising those competitions that were already published.

Notices of Competition are revised to accommodate the new 24-language regime, along with any of the tests that will have to be updated to reflect the new language requirements. Reasoning tests will most likely remain unaffected by these updates, but EPSO might launch a system where Language 1 and Language 2 are both any of the 24 official languages without obliging candidates to choose from English, French, or German (or Italian or Spanish). This is to be seen when the updated Notice of Competition is released on 1 March 2024.

The online testing platform issues had many complaints after each round of testing. EPSO has apparently been reluctant to reinstate test centres (probably due to budget limitations), and seems to prefer an online-only system despite its challenges. It remains to be seen whether they can sort all of this out before testing restarts (soon, hopefully).
