Any tips for e-tray exam?

uncyte Tue, 08/25/2015 - 21:58

Hi everybody! I've just managed to pass the pre-selection test for Administrators in the area of Audit and the next step seems to be e-tray! Is there anybody who might give me a tip about this test because this is the first time I'm going to take it and I don't have a clue about it. I've found some samples, but I would like to get some feedback from people who already took it. Thanks a lot!

Hi Branco,

Congrats!!

What are the samples that you found?

I have taken e-tray for assistants in Brussels. If you like, I could share any experience! Oh and congrats!

Hi marykit, yes maybe you can share with us some tips regarding the e-tray. I will be taking both the one for assistants (as part of the AC) and the one for AD and I am preparing with a package bought on this site. Thanks!

Hi everyone
Definitely any comment from you marykit would be invaluable. Was it (the real thing) like the packages here? was it different?

Thanks!

Hello maria, I also took the AC in Brussels at the beginning of July. I can also share my experience. If you live in Brussels, we can already meet. In general, I believe that the etray is an extension of SJT. So, if you master the 8 competencies, you do not have to worry.

Hi Louise, thanks for your interest to share your experience. Unfortunately I'm not in Bxl now, I'll be coming only for the AC so it would be too late for me. Maybe we can talk by email? My email address is raluka87 [at] h o t m a i l [dot] c o m
Thank you!

My advice would be, try NOT to read ALL emails at once from the very begining. I think I lost time there doing that, meaning the I didn't have time for the last 3 questions and I answered totally randomly. :-/

marykit Thu, 08/27/2015 - 12:49

Oh, on the other hand I think all other questions were very well answered by me but... who knows? Maybe the other way, if I didn't spend so much time at the begining I would have answered the last questions too...
So to be more specific, read well most of the the emails but not spend too much time! Remember, you have around 17 questions to answer

hello everybody!
marykit thanks for the info. are the tests similar to the one on this site? or do you find any particular surprise?
thanks again for any input you can give us

Hello marykit, i come from Greece too and i'm admitted to the e-tray for AD. Perhaps you could tell us for which competition you took the e-tray exam, and how much did one have to score in order to be invited to the AC. Also, please tell us whether the tests at this site resemble the real ones... Thanks a lot in advance!!

Hey guys,

I'd like to react on this thread and make it live a bit longer :)

Thank you Marykit for your advice. So, according to you, reading all the email before answering the question would NOT be a good strategy? I suppose a quick "scan" would be the right way.

How about reading all the questions before answering? Would that help? For example getting a grip of what the test is actually trying to assess? Or Identifying the competencies assessed for each question? Would this technique help identifying the right way to answer?

Another question, how can one divide its time for the etray? As it's a 50min test, would 10min for reading the email and 40 answering the questions be a good proportion?

Finally, are the questions similar to STJ in a way that it's just behavioural actions? Or is there some actually work to do such as calculation or recommendation to make according to a given material (I suppose a bit like a case study) ?

Thank you all in advance for you help.

Good luck to you first of all. I explained right from my first post that I took e-tray for Assistants meaning the concours was different of course so if anybody still wanted any feedback I'd give.
The competition was: EPSO/AST/-SC/03/15 and I took it for the finance role... In addition, I'm sorry but I can't say if this site's e-tray are similar to this I took because I didn't make in this (or any other, believe it or not) site a kind of preparation but I only searched some samples (and I don't advise that you do this too).
In order to answer to SLEEZ's question I'm not sure what's the best, I'd take the quick scan option for the very begining of the test (quick-not trying to remember any guy's name, like I did!).
E-tray in my case at least, didn't evaluate knowledge on a subject, and it was like SJTs. The etray gave an hypothesis of me being an actual assistant trying to make the better choices in order to organise an event...

Also the worst option had to be marked as well along with the best.

Thank you Marykit for your time and advice and good luck to us all!!!

Thank you all for your valuable advices. I have an additional question. Does anybody know if there is a possibility to use a pencil and paper and that way write down some key inormation while reading e-mails?

There will be an erasable board - similar to what was available for the CBT.
