AD5 2017 Abstract Reasoning

FRC Fri, 06/23/2017 - 09:28

I sat yesterday the preselection CBT for the AD5 competition. Verbal and numerical as expected, but the abstract reasoning test questions were nothing like the simulations practiced here at EU Training. The strategies learned and practiced over several months were mostly useless. I see in the forum this may not be an isolated case. I expect to fail on account of this. A pity, and a missed opportunity. Either the exercise databases need updating, or the algorithms picking the questions at EU Training are not working properly ie. by selecting only certain typologies and leaving out others. Either way EU Training should take action, and I will contact Support about this matter.

Thanks for your valuable

Thanks for your valuable comments, FRC. I'm preparing with tests I had from EU training in 2015, which were much more difficult (and yes, I agree with you that they're using some very easy exercises here -far too easy.)

Nevertheless, I have to say this year I've found abstract tests in EPSO very easy (AST HR and lawyer linguist) but my opinion doesn't count much because I'm very strong in abstract reasoning -most times I see the answer without having really worked out the rules rationally. I also have to say I've been doing tests many many years and I always succeeded to second or third stages but then that's it, I get knocked out. As a veteran in passing tests, I have to say the key is practising and practising and practising until tests are no longer a pain, but a fun game. I remember I used to hate these tests and now they're my very personal sudokus, I practice out of sheer pleasure.

Thanks for your initiative, FRC. I hope EU training will listen to you.

MT

AST abstract tests have

little comparison Tue, 07/04/2017 - 02:45

AST abstract tests have always been nowhere near the difficulty of AD abstract tests. Lawyer linguist abstract tests were also noticeably easier (at least this year) than both recent AD generalists' abstract tests (the ongoing ones and those in 2015). So, little comparison between abstract reasoning tests for different categories of staff and for different profiles.

You're right, there's no

You're right, there's no point in comparing different competitions. AD Generalist will always be more difficult because EPSO has to discard so many candidates in the first place.

I found abstract tests extremely difficult this time. Two or three questions were downright stupid (they were so easy I lingered on, wondering where was the hidden trap.) As for the rest, I just wouldn't see the logic in most of the series, so I had to use my instinct. Funny enough, my instinct usually works alright because I seem to have a gift for abstract reasoning, but I don't know if I'll get a mark high enough this time. Even verbals were particularly tricky.

And yeah, in my test only 3 of the abstract questions (out of 20) were slightly similar to those I have ever practiced in EU Training for the last two years. I think they have created a whole new set of tests for this competition. Or maybe I simply had bad luck. I spoke to someone who found his test sooo easy. I was green of envy :-)

The more you have practiced, the more rules you'll have in your head to try to find the logic, but I think this time they're aiming at 'killing' quickly and effectively. With over 23000 candidates, no wonder.

Hi! Tell me more about

Eugene Fri, 06/23/2017 - 16:29

Hi! Tell me more about abstract Epso tests. I also have participated several times to the  Epso competitions but always I have found similar levels there and here.Maybe they have changed the style. Anyway , think in a different perspective . If u founded abstract harder and different that means that also the other candidates found them also the same

Good luck with the score. I have mine on 12th June ..

Hi! Thank you for yout

Hi! Thank you for yout feedback. Which resources do you recommend to use then, apart from the EU training material? Any books in particular for example? Thanks and best of luck!

i find AR far more difficult

makazl Tue, 06/27/2017 - 15:32

i find AR far more difficult than on EU training, so there is no quite a use of tractising it here. Maybe anyone has any suggestions as to where to practise it from (hard levels) ?

Let's not pretend this

Let's not pretend this Dermaglo Cream isn't a big deal. There was this here and there that I found, although nothing more. Even if I take another instance of some program it is still that way. Some stale saying is like a drug to me. I immediately demanded to explain that to a manager. This is not going to occur soon. It may not be a different notion to look at your local weather forecast first. I don't understand why I could evade this as much as humanly possible. You might presume that I'm mad as a hatter and this is impossible.

Now, I will teach you how to use that means. I don't review that I could not have so much knowledge with regard to that thesis.

Thank for all your feedbacks.

Thank for all your feedbacks. The most new difficult abstract test are well calibrated with EPSO exam or are still easier? I have just done 200 and there are far difficult than previous. Thank for your answers and good luck foro everyone! I'll sit on 14 July

Indeed more difficult than

yi.jiang.tretton@gmail.com Fri, 07/07/2017 - 19:38

Indeed more difficult than EPSO training.  And MUCH MUCH more than AST AR. Compare to the AD AR, the AST one looks like for primary school.

Let's cross the fingers.
