Hi,

Yes, I have the same doubt, the questions are not related to PM. Are you sure these are the kind of questions we will face?

Hi,

To the best of our knowledge, yes, the competency questions are in line with the actual EPSO exercises, but EPSO may also choose to change the focus of their questions at any time. We have received feedback from candidates that have sat the test, with some saying the questions were spot on and helped them immensely, while others have encountered questions that didn't align exactly. Naturally, candidates sitting the actual EPSO tests will randomly receive questions from a large pool, so candidate experiences will be different based on the set they get. In addition to using our competency practice questions, I would recommend using them to prompt further reading of related topics to expand your general knowledge of this competency area.

Hello Olga!

Hello Olga!

We are not aware that the CAST PM competition includes SJT exercises. Would you be so kind sharing where did you encounter this piece of information?

Thanks, David

In the epso.europa.eu page

In the epso.europa.eu page

For the Contract Agents you have 2 test:

1)Reasoning skills test- >If you take CAST PM is FG IV , so you have to refer to Administrators (AD-generalist) section, and when you go to this section they say that the reasoning skills test includ: verbal, numerical, abstract and situational judgement interactive tests

2) Competency-based test (questions on knowledge of project/programme management)

Dear Olga,

Dear Olga,

The information displayed on the Sample tests tab of EPSO’s website is contradictory indeed, as it makes the impression that SJT exercises are considered reasoning type of tests.

In our view and in accordance with occupational psychological perspectives the SJT exercises presented by EPSO would class more as ‘tests of behavioral preference and judgement’. They do not need to ‘reason’ with the information in the traditional sense that you might need to with a verbal or numerical test: i.e. it does not rely upon your ability to come to a reasoned conclusion based upon pure logic. It is more of a reflection of what, in your experience, you judge to be the most effective course of action, or the one you are most likely to take.

This is the reason why we do not include Situational Judgement Tests in our CAST packages. The latest version of the Call for Expressions of Interest doesn’t mention SJT exercises either, however you might wish to double-check with EPSO directly if they plan to introduce SJTs in future CAST competitions.

If you still decide to practise Situational Judgement Tests you can purchase them as a custom product, under this link.

Best regards,

David
