What is the value of the subject above, assuming you type it into the physical calculator given to you at the assessment centre?

3 or 4?

Thx, but this is about the calculator provided at the assessment centre and not about math.

A basic calculator device will produce 4 if you type the sequence above. Mathematically, certainly, this is wrong.

Such basic calculator will not respect the rank of operators, it will carry out a previously stated operation as soon as you key in a new operator.

You can observe the different results setting the virtual calculator on a Win10 PC to  either "standard" or "scientific".

So, I would really like to know how the devices at the assessment centre behave in this respect.

If the calculator is simple you will have to use the memory functions more frequently instead..

With the calculator provided by Prometric, the result will be 4. The calculator is very simple, not a scientific one, it also does not have parentheses. To obtain the right value you shoul type 1x2+1.

Following on this question: can someone that already took the exam confirm that the memory functions are at least included?

You always have some time to check the materials provided - there are also five minutes' tutorial with ample time to experiment. So if there are memory functions, you'll be able to check them before starting the test. However, if I were you, I wouldn't trust those functions (if there are, which I doubt). I always write down the partial answers on the sheet boards with the markers provided. The questions are easy enough and you'll have time to write down. I've never been short of time (unless I chose the wrong data and had to start all over again, which shouldn't happen if you're well trained.)
