assistant vs administrator

Hello everyone! I was wondering whether the degree of difficulty of the abstract, verbal and numerical tests is different between competitions for AST and AD. I am preparing for both, however I have only done practice tests for AST so I am not sure whether they will be helpful for the AD exam.

Thanks a lot!

I think so, I did both, first I went for the AST and I found them very reasonable, I got confident, and when I did the test for the AD competition I realized they were harder...but it was too late, I hadn't prepared appropriately.

Hello, I was wondering about the same thing. So there is for sure a harder level of the resoning test for the administrators then for assistants, meaning the questions are for sure different??! Thanks a lot in advance.

Hello,

Yes, questions in AD competitions are on average more difficult than for AST competitions. Not 100% sure whether EPSO may have different data bases of questions for AST and AD competitions or whether they use more questions at a higher difficultly level at AD competitions in comparison to AST competitions. From what I can tell however, I would strongly suspect they have indeed rather different sets of questions for AST and AD competitions.

Maybe someone here has experience from both types of competitions and has seen the same questions?

According to that, my proposal to EUTraining would be to classify the questions database into two difficulty levels.

This will allow to start the preparation path choosing easy level questions avoiding too complicated and frustrating tests during the first stages.

Hello Roy,

Our questions come in three difficulty levels, these are the following, in increasing order of difficulty: AST - CAST - AD (Specialist). You can always pick a different profile when launching a new test, to get the desired level of difficulty.

On the other hand, 'less difficult tests' does not mean at all 'less difficult competition', since the difficulty of whatever competition is in the competitors, and 'less difficult' tests are 'less difficult' for all of them :)

AST tests are often easier,

AST tests are often easier, but each EPSO board sets the level of difficulty knowing how many people have registered for given competition, so when they need to reduce the number of candidates to get to the next stage, they may raise the difficulty accordingly.
In few months it will be only about pass/fail. No more "only the best" continue.
