Last year, they were taken on computers in Prometric centres, like the preselection. I'd be surprised if they went back to manual.
What are your languages? I am taking a test this year, too :).
Same source languages here :), German and English into Polish.
Maybe you want to team up and exchange some tips/materials/preparation strategies/interesting source texts we may find etc.? We could exchange e-mails. Let me know if you're interested. I don't know anyone who takes part in this year's translation competition, and some extra motivation is always welcome :).

would anyone know how long the texts will be (number of words / lines)?
i tried to looked at the forum from last year, but when candidates asked the same question to EPSO, the answer was: more details will be provided to you on the day of the exam... which doesn't help a lot.

I suppose it will be of similar length as the sample texts on the website (i.e. ca. 50 lines).
For English, I'm going to use Economist and www.politico.eu. Hopefully, Politico is not worse than "European Voice" they have recently acquired, which was great for all EU-related topics.
Have you found any sample translation texts other than what's currently on the website?
Well if I understood correctly from last years' posts on this website the texts are not necessarily EU-related but can cover social, technological, political and other topics.

I studied the information regarding the translation tests and one thing is still not clear to me- at several places they write about saving my text from time to time (i even read sb. who has already taken the test that he saved the text after each sentence translated). Can anyone explain to me why I should do this. If it is to avoid erasing a bit of text accidently, I understand, but to me, it sounds like this is not the case. Am I allowed to review the text once I finnish? I would of course say I definiteli am, but pointing out I HAVE to save my work regularly confuses me. I even posted the question on eu careers, but it didnt even show up. Thanks for any help.
