Hello,
I have been wondering whether, if I write my essay in my native language (Bulgarian), this could backfire at the recruitment stage because the vast majority of officials would not speak Bulgarian. Could it be that they won't be able to get a direct impression of my writing and so be reluctant to offer me a position?
Other than that, I think it makes perfect sense to choose my mother tongue as L2 as the essay will test my active use of the language which is inevitably better than any foreign language.
Be assured, your EUFTE will
Be assured, your EUFTE will not be forwarded to the recruiting services. Only your application will. The choice of language will not have any impact on the marking of your test.
The knowledge of languages may have a certain effect on the chances for being hired for a vacancy: for example a post requiring the knowledge of Swedish; but of course this applies to all languages. So as a result, Bulgarian and English is a combination offering plenty of opportunities provided your would be placed on the reserve list.
Wishing you every success with your participation to the ad5 competition!
