Hi all,

Starting this tread to capture questions about the Linguistic linguistic Assistants competitions. Hoping to get the CBT results over the next few days and have almost no nails left to bite!

Has anyone received their test results yet?

Anyone notices the assessment day is schedule before the case study? Has expected the case study to come first so was about to do the case study on eutraining now but looks like i should be focusing on preparing for the interview instead.

Also emailed EPSO a few months ago to ask what the rest editing talk will conaist of and was advised that they will punlish a sample of that test closer to the CBT results. These will also likely require a localised keyboard so better get practicing on using those.

Sorry about typos - using a smartphone to write treads is not a very clever idea!

Got my results today - pissed with 46 out of 52. Hopefully will be in the top bracket!

Good luck everyone and thanks Eutraining for the help preparing for these tests :)

Hi Mark! For which language you applied for?

Maltese.

Mark Tue, 09/20/2016 - 15:08

Maltese.

I wonder if they publish the results onto all applicants' accounts at the same time or whether they publish them one by one.

I don't know, but I applied

amor1205aquarius Tue, 09/20/2016 - 15:14

I don't know, but I applied for Croatian language and we have received only the first results, we don't know the threshold yet...

Maybe you got your results

amor1205aquarius Tue, 09/20/2016 - 15:21

Maybe you got your results the same day because there are only 90 applicants for Maltese and 579 for Croatian...I don't know...

Hello everyone,

Shannyn Fri, 09/30/2016 - 09:13

Hello everyone,

any ideas on when the threshold might be published?

I'm trying to work this one

Mark Fri, 09/30/2016 - 22:11

I'm trying to work this one out too.

Going by past AST-level competitions it could take as long as a month between publication of test scores and publication of actual results(thresholds). On the other hand  can see that some linguist competitions appear to publish both at the same time.

Perhaps we've been unlucky by having this phase in the summer when admin seems to go on a major slow-down. Although we can hope that this means that the next phases of our competitions may be quicker than this.

If EPSO intend to carry out the assessment centre in November then I would like to think that they will soon be sending out invitations for these. On the other hand, all they have said so far is that the assessment centre will not be held before November, so could potentially be delayed till January, (with another potential slowdown in December) .

I want to start getting ready for AC, but then there is a chance that I don't meet the threshold so I am procrastinating until results are announced.  EPSO should also be publishing sample 'editing tests in language 1' for us to practice on soon and I'm a bit anxious about what this will involve, adding to my procrastination further.

Thank you for the info! I had

Thank you for the info! I had actually expected the final results/thresholds within the same week, but now I realise mid-October might be more plausible.

Completely on the same page with you, Mark, as far as AC preparations: procrastinating until the results are published.

Mark Thu, 10/06/2016 - 23:29

I received a message in my EPSO account today letting me know I did not meet the requred experience/education even though I have worked in admin for 8 years and got an MSc. Thought this was an entry level competition :(

So disappointed but won't give up - will start getting ready for the AD competitions straight away, When life deals you lemons, you make lemonade :).

Good luck everyone else.

Hi,

lanatomerlin@yahoo.com Fri, 10/07/2016 - 15:39

Hi,

Has anyone got any idea how to prepare for text editing? What does it entail?

Thanks so much!

Hi Ian,

Mark Mon, 10/10/2016 - 14:10

Hi Ian,

When I made that enquiry to EPSO around 3 months ago, they advised me there would be a sample of that task published in online accounts  or in the selection procedure's webpage before the AC.

They also indicated this would require the use of a language 1 physical keyboard.

I'm no longer part of this competition though so don't have any more recent info.

Best wishes,

Mark
