The European Personnel Selection Office (EPSO), created in 2003, is the centralised recruiting arm of all EU institutions such as the European Commission, the Council of Ministers, the European Parliament, the European Court of Auditors, the European Ombudsman, the European Economic and Social Committee, the Committee of the Regions, and the European Court of Justice. It does not recruit, however, for EU agencies located in Member States, nor does it recruit for the European Central Bank or the European Investment Bank.
EPSO has been instrumental in modernising the EU recruitment procedures by not only re-labeling the procedure as EU Careers but also by making sure that anyone seeking a European career or job in EU affairs can take part in an unbiased, streamlined and centralised selection procedure to work for EU institutions.
EPSO, as a main rule, handles all recruitment for permanent posts and administers CAST CBT exams, but it does not deal with the selection of individual temporary agents or contract agents, nor does EPSO deal with recruitment.
