EU Institutions

The European Union's official website states that over 60,000 people currently work for the EU institutions, but it is not certain when this information was last updated. Some sources put that number well above 75,000 (January 2024). The European Personnel Selection Office (EPSO) oversees the centralised selection procedure for all EU institutions, which includes the four main decision-making bodies:

  • the European Parliament (Brussels/Strasbourg/Luxembourg)
  • the European Council (Brussels)
  • the Council of the European Union (Brussels/Luxembourg)
  • the European Commission (Brussels/Luxembourg/Representations across the EU)

In addition to these institutions:

  • the Court of Justice of the European Union (Luxembourg)
  • the European Central Bank (Frankfurt)
  • the European Court of Auditors (Luxembourg)
