Driving the month: new competition, new tests, and new tech
Building momentum: EPSO launched a new competition for Building Specialists (AD7) across four profiles and with over 400 places on the reserve list - that's a lot of scaffolding. András Baneth walked candidates through the Notice of Competition in a free webcast, you can catch the recording here.
Testing gets a reboot: The above competition came with the announcement that this will be the first competition tested using EPSO’s brand-new provider. Yes, the Open Assessment Technologies era begins. EPSO says it’s aiming for a “candidate-centric testing experience”, which sounds promising, if a little abstract.
Test date locked in: Meanwhile, candidates in the EPSO AST3 Communication competition now have a confirmed test date: 29 October, which will still be run using EPSO’s interim provider, TestWe. So while the tech transition is in motion, it’s not complete just yet. On the day, candidates will face a three-part exam: Reasoning Skills, Field-Related MCQs, and the EUFTE - that’s the Free Text on EU Matters, a written test designed to assess how well candidates can communicate in writing. CASTing call: The next CAST selection test is almost here - mark 15 October. Invited? There’s still time to sharpen your reasoning skills. Numerical, Verbal and Abstract Reasoning shouldn’t be the thing standing between you and that job. Join one of our expert workshops and make sure you pass on the first go.
Open up and say 'ah': Inside the institutions, the Commission’s internal competition, the first Oral Test rounds took place in September. The next batch of interviews and oral presentations is expected to resume in October, although many candidates are still waiting for their invitations. We still have training sessions scheduled here - the confidence boost every candidate needs.

And then there were three...: Over on EPSO’s Upcoming Competitions page, only three competitions remain listed for 2025, and no sign (still) of the one that shall not be named.
