Keep your eyes peeled for the release of some exciting news mid-November. The EU Commission is about to announce a massive internal competition round with 405 positions.
This is the opportunity to further your career and move up the ranks. Full details will be disclosed when the official notice of competition is released, but we were told about the following (please bear in mind that this is an unofficial list at the time of publication):
There will be 8 grades available as follows:
- AST/SC2 – 30 positions
- AST 2 – 20 positions
- AST 4 – 50 positions
- AD 6 – 30 positions
- AD 7 – 70 positions
- AD 8 – 70 positions
- AD 10 – 70 positions
- AD 12 – 45 positions
Eligible candidates are Commission Officials, Temporary Agents and Contract Agents. It appears that the eligibility criteria will require candidates to:
- have been in the service of the European Commission as Contract Agent, Temporary Agent or Official for at least 42 months (not necessarily consecutively)
- been actively employed by the Commission for at least 12 months before the registration closing date of the competition, and
- have spent at least 6 months in the Function Group (FG) of the competition or higher.
The following lists the specific eligibility requirement for each grade:
- AST/SC2 – Officials or Temporary Agents at AST level / Contract Agents FGII
- AST 2 – Officials or Temporary Agents at AST level / Contract Agents FGIII or FGIV
- AST 4 – Officials or Temporary Agents at minimum AST 2 level / Contract Agents not applicable
- AD 6 – Officials or Temporary Agents at AD level / Contract Agents FGIV
- AD 7 – Officials or Temporary Agents at minimum AD 5 level / Contract Agents not applicable
- AD 8 – Officials or Temporary Agents at minimum AD 6 level / Contract Agents not applicable
- AD 10 – Officials or Temporary Agents at minimum AD 8 level / Contract Agents not applicable
- AD 12 – Officials or Temporary Agents at minimum AD 10 level / Contract Agents not applicable
The selection process may be slightly different depending on the type of profile that you apply for:
- generally, the AST/SC grades will need to sit a Verbal Reasoning, Numerical Reasoning, Abstract Reasoning and Competency Test, which will be followed by an Oral Test.
- generally, the AD grades will need to complete a Talent Screener and an Oral Test.
