Dear Elisa,
Dear Elisa,
We do not have any specific dates as EPSO has not released any, but according to our estimates the earliest that the CBT results could possibly be released is the end of August, but most likely it will be the end of September.

Hi!
Hi!
The result at AD 5 audit was given today. But they didn't announced the final score(number of points) for passing the exam. They given only the points made from total points.
Can anyone to say who passed the CBT which was the minimum score ? Thanks!
Congratulations for all of
Congratulations for all of you who have taken the CBT for AD5 audit with more than 34 points(85%).
How to get this score? I am in a second year of preparation for CBT but I done only 55-68%.
I was practising 2 hours per
I was practising 2 hours per day with the tests provided by Eutraining and I got 36 in AD 5, its just practise and practise!
Practising for how many years
Practising for how many years? Because the level of difficulty on the verbal and abstract tests on this site has nothing to do with the real thing. I achieved to get over 30 but not due to the practice center on this site...
I used books of tests too,
I used books of tests too, although I must say that the ones on this site were pretty good (I bought mine a while ago but I seem to remember you could specify difficulty - I just did the hard ones). For me, getting used to time pressure, and exam technique, was just as important as doing the questions themselves. One of the difficult things for me to learn was being able to leave a question I was spending too much time on (i.e. random guess and mark) - it is so easy to spend too much time on a single question and then fail to finish (also to bear in mind that they are not in order of difficulty in the real thing, so you may get stuck on a really hard one early on, then not have enough time to answer the easier ones later on.
So, how many times have you
So, how many times have you tried to pass an EPSO exam?
I think I have tried two
I think I have tried two Audit AD7 exams initially, failed CBT by 0.5% each time,
then as Assistant, passed CBT and Assessment Centre, but failed Case Study (grrr),
then passed Assistant - currently working as official,
now going for AD 7 again - glutton for punishment I guess.....
Hi, what is the 0.5%, what
Hi, what is the 0.5%, what did you get to be out for this percentage??
|Thank you!
First one - I got 68.5/80,
First one - I got 68.5/80, minimum mark for AC was 69.
Second one - I got 62.5/70, pass mark for assessment centre was 63.
At least one of the half marks occassions was from Situational Judgment.
Probably obvious from the
Probably obvious from the above, but persistence (or pig-headedness) is also important!!
And no, you can no longer
And no, you can no longer specify the level of difficulty. You buy an AD pack and you presumably have an AD level of difficulty. Years ago you had the possibility to choose the level of difficulty.
Currently our practice centre
Currently our practice centre does not allow users to manually select the level of difficulty, but rather it is pre-set by us via our algorithms to mirror the actual EPSO exams per profile. This means each practice test will feature questions with a variety of difficulty levels as experienced at the actual EPSO exams.
When using the Practice Centre, there is a difference between using the "Profile Selection" tool to generate practice tests or manually adding the number of questions you wish to take per test type. Our algorithms work differenlty via the profile select tool and manual selection. That is, step 1: select mode (practice mode or exam mode); step 2: profile selection (select which EPSO exam you are preparing for); step 3: compose test (select which language you would like to practice in); Start Test.
On our old website, users could select the level of difficulty manually. The problem we faced with this was, either users used up the most difficult questions too quickly or felt that it was not representative of the actual EPSO exam experience. However, we are considering re-introducing this feature, so that users can choose a preference.
I hope this clarifies the situation.
Kind regards,
David @ EU Training
Interesting response David -
Interesting response David - thanks.
I certainly appreciated selecting difficult only (you can already have the experience of easy/medium/hard through your sample tests and through the EPSO website). As long as you make it clear to the user what they are actually buying. If I am preparing for an exam I would like to practice at a harder level than the actual exam - if I can manage that, the actual exam should be manageable (taking into account the extra stress/unfamiliarity). Personal preference, but I like having the choice available.
Yes, I think practice in exam
Yes, I think practice in exam conditions is really important, I can't see a short way round. Also mark questions you got wrong the first time round and keep going through them.

Basically we don't know which is the floor Epso is going to set for the Talent Screener, but it is supposed to be between 32/33, having a look at the previous competition (which is not even a perfect rule for comparision but gives you an idea...!)
What I really don't understand is the timing..... What is clear is that in 2/3 days we will have the result of those admitted to the talent screener, when EPSO will publish the minimum score to be admitted to the TS.
BUT, reading the Notice of competition it is clear that for AD7 they are going to invite to the AC a maximum of 45 candidates (3 times the n° of the reserve list).... So I suppose they are going to screen at least 200/250 talent screener.... We will see the number of TS's they are going to screen!!
Taking into account that the AC has been set for 01/2017, in my opinion we are supposed to wait at least until the end of November to have some news about the TS results!
Rrrr I got 30 out of 40 AD7
Rrrr I got 30 out of 40 AD7-my strength was the situational test, but since they don't use it anymore...- so I hope they ask for a bit less.
I woudn't be so sure about the next stage being in January since they took almost a month longer in releasing the first results.
Let's hope the threshold will
Let's hope the threshold will be less than 30!!
If you see this link
http://blogs.ec.europa.eu/eu-careers.info/2015/04/17/admission-results-p...
Generally they publish the threshold after 2/3 days from the comunication of your result.... so let's hope so, and by the end of the week we will know if we are in the talent screener or not... Now it's only a matter of threshold, since the CBT mark is not summarized to the talent screener mark... It is only a way of making a skim of the candidates!
Anyway.... FINGER CROSSED!!!
Hello all - AD7 35/40
Hello all - AD7 35/40
So I am not clear at all about what happens next. It appears from the replies above that they will shortly announce minimum score to go through to the talent screeener, from previous experience this should be within a week of announcing the CBT results. Have I got that right?
I was thinking that, say they needed 150 to go through to talent screener stage, and when checking eligibility, they found that 24 didn't meet minimum elgibility, that they would then go back and select the 'next' 24 from the people that didn't get through the next time, but if they are already announcing the minimum score, then they won't do that (i.e. they will only consider Talent Screener for 126?). Have i got that right?
Going through that many talent screeners (and presumably CVs) is going to take a long time I guess. Anybody have an idea of when they will announce when the successful ones go through to assessment centre?
I didn't really spend enough time on my talent screener, so not very hopeful about going through to next round (kind of irritating too that they asked about experience about auditing EU institutions - seems to favour existing EU auditors, which doesn't seem fair in a general competition, and presumably doesn't therefore ensure you select the best people for the job on the basis fo ability).
Hello,
Hello,
i wanted to reply to you from my personal experience. I participated in the EPSO/AD/293/14 competition. The CBT results had come out on 19/03/2015, but the admission or not to the TS, on 15/04/2015. I really don't think it is a matter of 2-3 days, for the threshold to be announced, but rather 3 to 4 weeks. And besides the threshold is decided upon the candidates with the highest marks, who are also checked for eligibility. They don't set a threshold, without having looked at the eligibility criteria. Once they do this, they have the number of people they want (e.g. if they want 150, they will start form the 150 candidates with the highest marks, and if for example all are eligible, they won't have a look at anyone else's application. How this number, the 150, is decided upon, is another issue, it says it is decided by EPSO. The 150, which all are eligible, will then be narrowed down to 45, according to the score they achieve based on the answers they gave at TS), and from that pool they are going to select, based on the TS, the ones who will proceed to the AC. It is made quite clear in the Notice of Competition as well: "If the computer-based MCQ tests are organised upfront, the files of the candidates will be checked for eligibility in descending order of the marks obtained until the number of eligible candidates reaches a certain threshold defined for each grade by EPSO acting as Appointing Authority. The other files will not be checked."
Hope it helped and good luck
Yes, great, many thanks,
Yes, great, many thanks, makes sense to me. Something I really struggle with in competitions is getting my expectations right for when I will be informed at each sub stage (ie the marks themselves are not really of any significance to me). the key stages are:
Have you gone through to Talent Screener?
Have you been invited to Assessment Centre?
But neither of these dates are clear in EPSO communicaations, grrrr!
Hello alisdairmacleod@hotmail
Hello alisdairmacleod@hotmail.co.uk,
first point: right!
second point: they have 15 people for the reserve list, this means (looking at the Notice of competition) that they are going to invite not more than 45 candidates to the Assessment Center. I really don't know how it works, but I think that they have the experience to understand how many people they need to find 45 good candidates for the AC in Brussels... This means that probably they will screen, let's say, 200 Talent Screener.... So they will take the result of the CBT, sort it, and look which is the minimum score to take 200 good candidates to screen.... THe CBT score, at this point, does not count anymore, because they are going to give points to the TS of every candidate. At the end, they will do the "standing" and invite the first 45 to the AC. Having a look at the EU planning, the AC is not going to be organized before 01/2017, this means that, if we are in the Talent Screener, we will have to wait at least until the end of November/start of December to have some news.....
If it makes you happier.... I either didn't spend so much time on the TS, since I didn't read well the Notice of Competition... It was for me the first application for EPSO, and I was not used to this kind of Selection procedures....!
Anyway.... Good Luck!!!
Thanks Vincenzo!
Thanks Vincenzo!
Hi all,
Hi all,
I am quite confused with the Talent Screener, because I have read in a few places that this affects both AD5 and AD7, but for example in the Question part of this article they says that is only regarding AD7, so How can I know if this affects AD5?? hThere's no sense to open a position with no experience required and then do a talent Screener right?
http://eutraining.eu/content/2016-epso-auditor-exams-epsoad32216-informa...
Thank you in advance!
Yes Acero, having a look at
Yes Acero, having a look at the notice of competition it is said that "For each grade, the selection board will assign each selection criterion a weighting that reflects its relative importance (1 to 3) and each of the candidate’s responses will be awarded between 0 and 4 points".
The important phrase is FOR EACH GRADE. This means that when evaluating the TS for an AD5 candidate, they give a different weight to, for example, the work experience than for the evaluation of the TS for the AD7 grade.
But, for example, there are people who applied for the AD5 because they had 2 years of relevant experience in the field of audit (so not enough to apply for the AD7) and they probably give them a different award than another candidate who has not this experience.
You can have no or a few experience in the field of audit, but, for example, have a professional accountancy qualification, experience in the consultancy field, experience in other economical field...
I hope I was as clear as possible!
Best,
Vincenzo
That makes it clear,
That makes it clear,
Thank you very much!

However, we are already on our third week since the initial release of our individual marks and we have had no news. Do we have any news or expectation? And, was the number of candidates almost 6000 for BOTH AD5 and AD7 or where there more?

Good afternoon,
Good afternoon,
It has now been indeed a while since EPSO communicated the scores obtained in the CBTs. Personally I unfortunately obtained a low score this year: 27/40 in the AD7 competition, but was thinking that maybe EPSO set a low threshold for TS admission and is currently reviewing a high number of candidates profiles, which would explain why it is taking some much time for releasing the results for being or not admitted to the assessment center. Does anyone have more information on this ongoing selection step?
Cheers,
Stephanie
Hi Stephanie!
Hi Stephanie!
I believe the delay has been due to the pressure on EPSO to change the examination language and, even it is not getting mentioned, the UK's Brexit. After all, the EPSO's headquarters used to be in London and I guess they currently have to relocate, change some staff, etc.
As for the marks, I got a 30 so I'm also hoping they ask for less. On this, there has been a trend for the last 3 or 4 years, in which they seem to have dropped 2 points every year, so they might drop again.
As well, there has been a post somewhere in this conversation in which there is a link to marks required in the 2014 or so for ADs, and there was a 29. So who knows what they might ask for, just wait and see. And maybe they take into account that we no longer have the Situational and that previously we were only required pass grades in maths -but the degree of difficulty does not seem to have varied. They should release any day now. And, as you say, the do revise 9 times more the required candidate's profiles, so maybe they decrease the relevance of grades yet increase the importance of our resume and experience, otherwise the number wouldn't make too much sense. After all, if you have less years of experience authomatically the epso system won't allow you to apply. So I guess they care about more than just the years.
Good luck!
Elisa
Hi Elisa,
Hi Elisa,
Thank you very much for these info, quite helpful ! just a comment on EPSO Headquarters, these are located in Brussels where I am based since at least 2010. So wait and see and good luck to you as well !!!
All the best,
Stephanie

It used to be 7months for a 50% of the candidates in the reserve list, to a year for the other 50% , though in Specialist examinations reserve lists may last up to 3 years, though they also may require individual interviews aside from the reserve list.
HOWEVER, they now say you must be available inmediately. But the epso's sense of immediacy is at the least, peculiar. Its better if you get in touch with them directly to see what they mean.
I think you are the one with the 36 in the AD7, right? If you are and you have the required experience and answered the questions in the Talent Screener, you will probably be one of the first to go.
Hi, thanks for your fast
Hi, thanks for your fast reply.
I got 36 but for AD5, I studied Economics, I have been one year working as management consultant and currently I am working as revenue management Analyst, so I guess my profile is good for the position.
But I dont speak french and I dont know if this could be a problem
Not for the moment. There is
Not for the moment. There is a rather strong current in the EU saying they will no longer use English since there is only Ireland and Malta left. But I don't think its likely since English is the most common working language.
I do think they were going to include a second language test at the assesment center -check the news on eutraining.com- so you might want to get into a French or German course fast -I might be getting confused with an English test, but it wouldn't make any sense if the exam is in English.
I'm sure there are intensive language courses at the French lnstitute or Goethe institute wherever you are.
Good luck and congrats!
Elisa
HI Elisa,
HI Elisa,
I am little bit cunfused with the second part of your reply:
"I do think they were going to include a second language test at the assesment center -check the news on eutraining.com- so you might want to get into a French or German course fast -I might be getting confused with an English test, but it wouldn't make any sense if the exam is in English."
So could be possible they include a new language test (in french or german I guess)? I have checked the news here and I dont have seen anything about it.
They ewre going to include it, but finally tehy are not going to do that? or maybe they are thinking to do that for the future?
Could you clarify me your opinion about it?
Thank you!
Dear Acero,
Dear Acero,
At this stage there is no final response concerning how the General Court’s judgements and Brexit will affect the languages used at the EPSO exams (especially the Assessment Centre). All we have at the moment is what we have stated in our Suspended EPSO Competitions - What We Know And What To Expect article.
How this situation will play out exactly is hard to tell, but we do expect that EPSO will be forced to expand on the number of languages used in the Assessment Centre.
From a practical point of view it is unlikely that all 24 official EU languages will end up being used at the Assessment Centre, but it is possible to imagine that a few extra languages, such as Italian, Spanish or Polish, may be added to the Assessment Centre phase.
Kind regards,
David @ EU Training
Hi David, thank you for your
Hi David, thank you for your fast reply.
I did not see the updates, but in the case they accpet using new languages like Spanish or Italian it would continue being unfair to other languages, so they could apply the same principles to try to use their languages in the assestment centre.
And in the case you speak Spanish or Italian fluency how would you work in a EU institution if the langueage for work there is not any of those languages?
It is a really difficult topic to fix and in my opinion should continue how it was before, even thinking that is and advantage for the native of English, french and German.
Thank you.
Hi Acero,
Hi Acero,
It is not a matter of fairness but of practicality. If you make it to the reserve list, you then get alocated into a group which uses your same combination of languages. Logically, working in 24 languages is completely impossible, so they are organised according to the three main working languages.
In any case, we don't really know what will happen. And, what is more, there is a general requirement of having a very good standard in one of the languages and a C2 in English, French or German.
As long as you have that, you will be alright. If you want to take extra care just in case, then learn some German or French.

I'm in shock. I haven't been accepted in either AD5 or AD7 because 1- I have a LAW DEGREE -plus criminology. And 2- they say I dont have the required experience in, between others, Business administration.
It turns out I have almost 13 years experience in Business administration -mostly for the public admin.- I DIDNT EXPRESS MYSELF PROPERLY- because in Culture we are called culture management or production. I talk about origanising conferences, meetings and other aspects of the jobs whilst not clearly stating that its business administration.
Is there any action I can take to explain my situation to the Board??? I think its worth it and it is an honest mistake -I must have rushed the application.

Best of luck to those that made it to the AC.
In case it is of interest and help, there are regular Assessment Centre classroom training sessions organised in Brussels, as well as the opportunity to get some AC personal coaching in preparation for the AC exercises.
Both training options are conducted by Jan De Sutter - a former President of an EPSO Selection Board and co-author of The Ultimate EU Test Book – The Assessment Centre Edition. He is able to pass on a lot of experience and advice that might prove to be vital on the day.
Kind regards,
David @ EU Training

David,
Thank you for the advice. Are these training also in French?
Thanks.
Dear Ro,
Dear Ro,
The current sessions scheduled are all in English, but our trainer speaks French so parts could be conducted in French, if expressed in advance. We have tried to run French sessions in the past, but there hasn't been enough interest in it.
Currently we have a classroom session scheduled for 2 December, that will be going ahead, since we have reached the minimum participants required to run the class. Currently we Have 3 spots left before the class is full.
Kind regards,
David @ EU Training
Dear Auditorepso,
Dear Auditorepso,
Just letting you know that the 2 December classroom training session will be going ahead as we have reached the minimum participants required to run the class. If you (or anyone else, who has expressed to you an interest to practice the structured interview and group excercise), would like to attend this session, there are 3 spots left currently. Once these spots are filled the class will be full.
Kind regards,
David @ EU Training

Hi everybody,
Hi everybody,
I really need a piece of advice, I had 36/40 in CBT for AD5 but I was rejected from the Assessment Centre with 0 points for professional qualification. I applied for Audit, AD5 and I clearly stated that I have a professional qualification, I am an ACCA. I assume there was a mistake in their evaluation, do you think it is possible to give to an ACCA 0 out of 12 points maximum for this question? In total I got 3 points, I was really not expecting this, having a relevant qualification in audit.
I already made a complaint and I am still waiting for their reply, in my opinion I should be preparing for the Assessment Centre, I really hope they revise their evaluation. What do you think about my case?
Thank you!
Hi, I'm in a similar
Hi, I'm in a similar situation. I have a different degree but the required number of years of experience. However I wasn't entirely clear in my application AND they didn't read the whole of it -it clearly states I worked for 6 years as public administrator, when I actually have over 12 years-. I got a letter stating I didn't have any experience at all. So, I appealed and they admitted the case for review last 4th of November.
I still have had no reply but I would love to attend the preparation sessions. Is there any way I can track how the Board is doing or can I expect their reply soon?
By the way, ACCA has something to do with accountants? I'm not sure how seriously they take qualifications. I have a law degree but the graduate diploma in competition law and policy -its mostly finance, markets etc- but they didn't take it into account.
Thanks!
Hi Elisa,
Hi Elisa,
ACCA is the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, one of the most prestigious qualifications in Audit and Accounting. The weight of qualifications is 3 and the maximum number of points is 4. I was expecting actually 12 points, given the weight. I have applied for AD5, so no experience needed, just the qualification. I don't know which other qualification is more suitable for an audit position, if not mine. That is why I think I do qualify, it is so strange they awarded 0 points.
I am wating for their reply, let's see. I don't know what is the percentage of positive reply to complaints, do you have any idea?
Well, congrats and good luck!
Well, congrats and good luck! I only know one other case of someone who filed an appeal for review but he didn't get admitted. However, his degree was in law and his sole experience in contract law -no accountancy, admin, finance etc what is what they ask for.
I know of a second case of someone who had years of experience as an accountant recognised for a CAST position, but when applying for AD7 they didn't recognise exactly the same experience anymore and they pushed him down to an AD5. I believe he appealed but wasn't even accepted for review.
Right now I'm concerned with timing. Even if they finally decide to allow me through I absolutely need time to prepare.

To me it's obvious they are trying to make some room for the insiders (this is temporary and contract agents from IAS for internal auditing and those from the Court of Auditors for external financial and systems auditing). I also received the lowest possible points for a CGAP certification (Certified Governmental Auditing Professional) which is insane. Which certifications gets 2, 3 and 4 points? The gap is too chaotic to be justified by any systematic logic. Luckily I got some other points from other questions and I am in the assessment centre. But I am sure they tried to under-evaluate the applications of outsiders. I really think you should insist in your case adinadg.
I think you might be right.
I think you might be right. The hadnt read my application properly, and over 12 years of experience went unrecognised. On the 4th of November I received an email saying they would re-read my application but that they couldnt accept reference letter for the jobs already established in the application because they considered it external elements. So I sais reading the application again should be enough. And they said that yes, of course they would.
Yesterday, I got this email
Dear Ms Encinar,
Thank you again for your e-mail.
The board has not examined your request as this was based on new elements you didn't mention in your application.
I herewith confirms EPSO's initial decision.
Yours Sincerely,
Luc GILLIS
The funny part, is that they only had to read the application again AND that the only reason why I gave them reference letters was because I was told to do so by the lady who picked up the phone at EPSO -ie , their own instructions.
By the way, how do you know
By the way, how do you know the number of points you got?

We were informed for our points, those who passed to the next level I mean.
Still you can answer to them, that the papers you have sent are not new elements for your application, you just took the initiative to send what every candidate will send at a latter stage. Repeat that you made the complaint solely on the information you provided in your signed off application and not on the ground of new information.
In the EPSO website,
In the EPSO website, regarding the ongoing selection procedures for auditors AD5 & AD7, under ''steps'' and ''timeline'' there are the following entries:
''Application open 12/05/2016
Deadline for application 14/06/2016 - 12:00(Brussels time)
Computer-based multiple-choice tests – booking period 23/06/2016 - 04/07/2016
Computer-based multiple-choice tests 07/07/2016 - 22/07/2016
Case study beginning January 2017(indicative)
Assessment Centre beginning January 2017(indicative)''
I was wondering why there two different entries in January 2017, i.e. ''Case study'' and ''Assessment Centre''; do these two entries both refer to the assessment centre? if this is the case, then why to have two separate entries?
Many thanks!
Case study would be done in a
Case study would be done in a seperate date, most probable 13/01/2016. Otherwise it would be too tiring for the candidates, to go through everything in one day

Dear Assessment Centre
Dear Assessment Centre Attendees,
I couldn't make it until then, but I'm wondering, was your case study related to audits? Did you have to use any field specific knowledge to cope with that? If yes to what extent? Or were field specific competences tested during the specific competency based interview only?
Many thanks for sharing your experience in advance!
Does anybody have received an
Does anybody have received an estimated date for the reserve listed candidates of this competition to be informed?
Thanks!
