Getting ready for the European Commission's Internal Competition Oral Test?

This session is heavily focused on and simulates the Oral Presentation component of the upcoming European Commision's Internal Competitions’ Oral Test. Our highly experienced instructor will explain the underpinning principles of the Oral Presentation and share hands-on tips and tricks to optimise your performance during the actual test.

While becoming better at presenting takes a lot of practice, this course will provide practical ideas to make your oral presentation more memorable by applying a few simple techniques. Apart from tips on improving the content of the presentation or interview skills best practices, you will have a chance to present as well and listen to presentations by the other participants.

Please note: This training session does NOT cover the Interview component of the Oral Test. There are separate training sessions for the Interview part.

This training session will be conducted in English only.

IMPORTANT: The class will only take place if there are at least 4 participants 2 days before the date of the event. Maximum number is 6.

For candidates who have successfully reached the Assessment Centre phase of EPSO's Administrators in the fields of Energy, Climate and Environment (EPSO/AD/401/22) competitions, this session focuses on preparing for the Field-Related Interview component of the AC.

Taking an interactive approach, the aim is to help build confidence by simulating EPSO test conditions. Participants will have the opportunity to practice the interview with one of our EPSO experts. The valuable strategic tips provided will build awareness of where participants stand in their preparation progress.

This training session will be conducted in English only.

IMPORTANT: The class will only take place if there are at least 4 participants 2 days before the date of the event. Maximum number is 6.

• EPSO Assessment Centre preparation focused on the EPSO Field-Related Interview
• Practical tips on how to strategically prepare

• Each participant will be asked to answer a number of 'likely' interview questions and have a go in the 'hot seat' at least once
• Recording of each participant's answers to interview questions, for personal use only

Getting ready for the European Commission's Internal Competition Oral Test? 

Please note: This training session will be held IN-PERSON in Brussels.

This training session focuses on and simulates the Oral Test exam of the European Commission’s Internal Competitions. The Oral Test consists of two parts: an interview and a short oral presentation. Our highly experienced instructor will explain the underpinning principles of both components of the Oral Test and share practical techniques to optimise your performance.

While becoming better at presenting takes a lot of practice, this course will provide relevant ideas to make your oral presentation more memorable by applying a few simple techniques. Alongside getting expert tips on improving the content of the presentation and interview skills best practices, you will also have the chance to present and then listen to presentations from other participants as well.

Participants will have the opportunity to simulate possible interview questions with the trainer. The valuable individual feedback and strategic tips provided will build awareness of where you stand in your preparation progress.

This training session will be conducted in English only.

IMPORTANT: The class will only take place if there are at least 5 participants 2 days before the date of the event. Maximum number is 6.

What's included?

• Preparation focused on the Interview and the Oral Presentation
• Practical tips on how to strategically prepare for the Interview (Motivation & Competencies mentioned in the Annex I) and the Oral Presentation
• Interactive simulation for both components with debrief and feedback.
• An online setup will be created at the venue, with the candidate in the ‘hot seat’ sitting in a different room from the interviewer.
• Oral Presentation simulation: 
  • You will be asked to prepare a short presentation
  • Topics will be chosen from a list at the session, no prerequisites needed
  • Participants will each have a go in the 'hot seat' once
  • 10 minutes preparation time 
  • 10 minutes presentation + feedback
  • You will receive a recording of your presentation, for personal use only
• Interview simulation: ​
  • Each participant will be asked to answer a number of 'likely' interview questions and have a go in the 'hot seat' at least once
  • The interview questions will be about motivation (MI) and field-related competencies (FRI), with the main focus on general competency-based questions (CBI). 
  • You will receive a recording of your answers to the interview questions, for personal use only
• Session hosted by one of our EPSO experts
• A follow-up document with further useful preparation info and sample interview questions

• 14:30 - 14:45 | General introduction to the Oral Test
• 14:45 - 15:00  | Preparation for the presentation (topic will be chosen from a list)
• 15:00 - 17:00 | "Hot seat" | Oral presentations
• 17:00 - 18:30 | "Hot seat" | Interview simulation 

Prerequisites

• For an optimal training experience participants should bring their Talent Screener questions, answers and scores - if possible.
